What is Aquaria KLCC?

One of Kuala Lumpur's best-known indoor attractions.

Aquaria KLCC is a large-scale oceanarium beneath the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, within walking distance of the Petronas Twin Towers. The original A to Z guide describes more than 5,000 aquatic and land-bound creature exhibits across roughly 60,000 square feet (5,600 m²) on two levels.

Its signature feature is a 90-metre transparent underwater tunnel with sharks, stingrays, turtles and schools of fish. The attraction has operated since 2005 and also presents conservation and marine-education messages for younger visitors.

Signature experience

The 90-metre underwater tunnel.

The original guide calls the Living Ocean the main oceanarium. A moving walkway carries visitors through a transparent tunnel past Sand Tiger sharks, giant stingrays, marine turtles and schools of fish.

This is the part of Aquaria most visitors remember, and it is also where the scale of the attraction feels most impressive.

Opening & entrance

Practical details from the original guide.

The original page listed Aquaria as open daily from 10am to 8pm, including public holidays, with last admission at 7pm. Because operating hours can change, verify current hours before travelling.

There is one main entrance at the Concourse Level of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, accessible from the Jalan Pinang side. The entrance and exit are different points, so do not arrange to meet someone back at the entrance after the visit.

Getting there

Public transport, walking and road access.

01

GOKL Bus

The original guide recommends the GOKL Green Line to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre stop as a convenient city-centre option.

KLCC LRT

Use the Kelana Jaya Line to KLCC station, then walk through Suria KLCC and the pedestrian underpass toward the Convention Centre.

03

The covered pedestrian bridge connects the Bukit Bintang area with the Convention Centre, making Aquaria walkable from Pavilion KL.

The original guide lists the city sightseeing bus as another option with a stop near Aquaria.

05

Grab / taxi

For door-to-door convenience, use the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre / Jalan Pinang side as the destination.

Driving is possible, though city-centre traffic and parking make public transport attractive for many visitors.

Highlights & families

What the original FAQ says to look out for.

Highlights listed in the original FAQ include the 90-metre underwater tunnel, Sand Tiger sharks, giant Arapaima, touch-pool encounters, shark feeding at the Aquatheatre, Matt the Octopus, giant blotched fantail ray, Green Sea Turtle, Tawny Nurse Sharks and the otters.

  • Children below 12 should be accompanied by an adult.
  • The original FAQ stated that infants enter free.
  • Tickets are for a single visit rather than multiple re-entry.
  • Allow extra time if you want to watch feeding sessions instead of rushing through.
Education & conservation

More than an aquarium display.

The original Aquaria page emphasises its role as an educational platform. Since opening in 2005, the attraction has run campaigns intended to inspire conservation, education and responsible attitudes toward marine life.

Protect ocean life for generations

Healthy oceans are essential to the planet's life-support systems. The original guide uses Aquaria's conservation message to remind visitors that protecting the diversity and productivity of our oceans is ultimately connected to human wellbeing.
